Blind delegate tasks conference on welfare

A blind delegate representing persons with disabilities at the ongoing National Conference, Esther Andrew, has tasked the conference to work toward coming out with results that will better their lot.

The representative of persons living with disability said that for long, they have been poorly treated by various institutions in the country.
She said that the country has not provided opportunities for such persons to pursue their goals.
Andrew also said that motorists in the country have no regard for persons with disability, especially those who are blind among them, as they are often molested by drivers.

On education, she explained that persons living with disability are faced with many problems such as the absence of facilities to aid learning.
The delegate therefore called on the conference to be sincere in their deliberations in order to come up with recommendations that would give the group a sense of belonging in Nigeria.
