Blueprint academic awards promoting scholarship – Publisher

Publisher and Chairman of Blueprint Newspapers Limited, Alhaji Mohammed Idris, has described the media organisation’s bold step in promoting scholarship through its first-ever schools competition and awards for students of the FCT as patriotic.
Alhaji Idris made the observation yesterday during the media outfit’s presentation of various awards to students and educationists, in collaboration with R-Connect, held at the National Commission for Colleges of Education, Abuja.
In his opening address, the chairman of Blueprint Newspapers, Idris scalled on corporate organisations and well meaning individuals to take a cue from Blueprint, assuring that the award would be better organised and be more robust in the subsequent outings.
On his part, the chairman organising committee of the award, Mr. Thomas Imoni Imoniche, extolled Blueprint and R-Connect for partnering to advance the course of education in the FCT, saying Nigerians need to imbibe the culture of sacrifice.
In his speech, he relived the old good days when the phenomenon of private schools was rare, saying most of them were beneficiaries of public education, therefore would like to see public and private schools in the country come at par with each other.
He said in the future both public and private schools would be involved.
On his part, the chief executive officer of R-Connect, Mr Habib observed that enough attention had not been given to education in the country and called on wealthy individuals to venture into massive investment in the future of younger generation.
