Blueprint bags Police Excellent Award

Blueprint Newspaper has been presented with Excellent Award by the Niger state police command in recognition of its excellent reportage of the activities of the command in 2019.

Presenting the award at the police officers’ mess in Minna, the state commissioner of police, Adamu Usman, said Blueprint Newspaper has performed excellently in the coverage of activities of the command.

According to him, “The command is highly satisfied with the coverage and reportage of our activities by the media especially the Blueprint Newspaper and other newspapers in the state. This award is to show our appreciation to the organisation.”

According to the commissioner, the Nation and Thisday newspapers also received the excellent award.

Speaking on the activities of the command in 2019, the commissioner said 55 kidnap suspects, 48 robbery suspects and 95 rape and other sexual offences suspects were arrested during the period.

He said the command also recovered 6 AK47 riffles, 153 ammunition and 521 cattle from criminals during the period.

He said the success recorded during the period would not have been possible without the support of the media.

He said, “It is believed that media is one of the key instruments used by the command to make its achievements known and acknowledge by the members of the public.

“Today I will this opportunity to appreciate the efforts of the media organisation that have contributed immensely in showcasing our achievements and successes”, he said.

The award for Blueprint newspaper was received on behalf of the organisation by its state Correspondent, Aideloje Ojo, who thanked the command for the recognition.

Ojo who is also the Chairman of the state Correspondents Chapel, NUJ Niger council, appreciated the commissioner of police for the good working relationship with journalists in the state.

He assured the commissioner of the support and cooperation of the press in the coverage of the command.
