Board assures Plateau Muslim pilgrims of hitch-free hajj

Plateau state intending Muslim pilgrims have been assured of a hitch-free 2018 hajj operation, coupled with befi tting accommodation and feeding. Executive Secretary, Plateau State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board,Barr Auwal Abdullahi, gave the assurance yesterday in his office in Jos. The ES and other officials of the board, who just returned from Saudi Arabia on inspection of accommodation and feeding arrangements, said they were satisfied with what was on ground.
He said since health is a collective responsibility, the Board, National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) in synergy with the Federal Ministry of Health had organised a workshop for the staff of state pilgrims boards in order to sensitise them on cholera, Lassa fever and other communicable diseases. Barr Abdullahi allayed the fears of Saudi authority, saying the speculation that Nigerians have the tendency of spreading the disease “is not true, the issue has since been nipped on the bud because the Minister of Health has said in clear terms that Nigeria is not in any danger.
“We in Plateau State Pilgrims Board are doing everything necessary to sensitise intending pilgrims and also put health workers on red alert in order to avert the influx of people with ailments.”
