Board to address quacks, unlicensed operators in health sector – Registrar

The new Registrar of Community Health Practitioners Registration Board of Nigeria (CHPRBN), Alhaji Bashir Idris, has said the board will make it a priority to address quacks in the profession.

Speaking during a reception in his honour by the CHPRBN, Kaduna state chapter and the North west zonal forum in Kaduna, he said the board will also tackle those operating without license.

The registrar said the board will partner with Federal Ministry of Health and the National Assembly to review the law that established it to meet up with global standard.

He said quacks in schools of health technologies and those practicing without license will face the wrath of the law in order to sanitise the profession.

Chairman CHPRBN, Kaduna state chapter, Comrade Ibrahim Lawal, in his remarks, decried the proliferation in operation of private schools of health technologies, adding that uncertified and unlicensed community health practitioners are the major threat to the profession.

The chairman assured that the association will support the new registrar to succeed in his new assignment.

The occasion was witnessed by representatives of the association from Nasarawa, Jigawa, Abuja, Sokoto, Katsina, Kano, Zamfara, Abuja and Northern zonal office among others.
