Boko Haram Kills 1 soldier, 2 civilians in Maiduguri

As military repel attacks in Damasak, Borno state and Buni Gari in
Yobe state, the Boko Haram insurgents continued to attack other towns
and villages almost on daily basis.

Apart from the Damasak and Buni Gari, Sunday evening attacks by the
Boko Haram, Boko Haram launched another attack on Auno village,  25
kilometers away from Maiduguri along Damaturu – Maiduguri highway that
links Kano and Kaduna, killing a soldier while the residents took to
their heels on sighting the vehicle and scores of  Boko Haram members
making entrance into the Auno town.

On the same night, another group of Boko Haram insurgents invaded
Sajeri  outskirts of Maiduguri city and attacked the  Chief Imam of
Sajeri, Malam Ali, shooting him to death while reading Quran with his
rosary in his right hand.

The insurgents also attacked another person, one Dan Fulani with
Cutlass. He was matcheted to death. A student of the Chief Imam who is
presently in critical condition is responding to treatment from the
cutlass wounds he sustained in the hands of the Boko Haram insurgents.

The Chief Imam and Dan Fulani were buried around 10 am yesterday
according to Muslim rite.The insurgents also set some houses
ablaze.Owners of the houses ran away before the arrival of the
insurgents. Some residents of the area ran for safety throughout the
night by relocating to their friends and relations in the
neighbourhoods within the metropolis.

The  crack  unit of the Nigerian Poilce Force (NPF) officials were at
the scene yesterday morning to assess the situation on ground.

An eye witness, Baa Kolo said:”Yes. Boko Haram attack Sajeri area of
Maiduguri where they killed 3 people and bunt down many houses. The
incident occurred around 22: 42hrs. People actually flee before the
arrival of security agencies. However, those who ran away are now
going back to their houses.

In Auno, a resident, Mala kaumi said: “We were sitting and watching
television when we heard gunshots and Allah Akbar. We started running
to unknown destination while few others remained indoors and until
this morning.”
