Boko Haram: Navy Special Boat Service personnel conduct clearance operation in Baga

The Nigerian Navy Special Boat Service personnel of the Naval Base Lake Chad (NBLC) in conjunction with personnel of 403 Special Force Amphibious Brigade and Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) have conducted a clearance and recovery operation at Baga, Borno state. 

A statement by Director Information Nigerian Navy, Commodore Sulieman Dahun on Tuesday said, the operation was led by the Commander NBLC, Commodore Alexander Bingel.

He said that the operation which was successfully executed lasted for 4 days and covered Federal College of Freshwater Fisheries Technology (FCFFT) Doro Baga, Tangon guava, Kwatan gaba and Kwatan kuyet. 

Commodore Dahun further revealed that operation resulted in the recovery of a box of 40mm Automatic Grenade Launcher (AGL) balls. 

While appreciating the combat vigour and resilience of the troops, Commodore Bingel commended the troops for their discipline, courage, doggedness and cooperation towards the success of the operation. 

“The troops, not swayed by the success of the operation, projected further to ensure no elements of Islamic State in West Africa (ISWAP) terrorists were left within the area,” he said.

The Special Boat Service is a Special Operation Unit of the Nigerian Navy, fashioned after the Royal Navy Special Service.
