Boko Haram: Soldiers arrest 17 in Adamawa

Pandemonium and anxiety have engulfed a popular shopping complex in Yola as soldiers in masks stormed the market yesterday arresting 17 people, including men of the Civilian JTF.
Blueprint gathered that the soldiers stormed the market around 12:30pm wearing masks and arrested marked people, including men of the Civilian JTF that were helping the military in their operations against Boko Haram.
A businessman at the market, who does not want to be named in print, said when the soldiers stormed the market, they started searching for the people they wanted to arrest as they seemed to have already earmarked them.

He said: “They came to the shopping complex and started arresting targeted men including men of civilian JTF leading to serious tension in the market which made many people to close their shops for the fear of the unknown.”

When contacted, the Army Public Relations Officer (APRO), Captain Ja’a faru Nuhu, confirmed the incident, saying that the arrests were part of routine security operations and that the arrested men had already been released.
When contacted, the Chairman of GSM Traders Association, Malam Bako Mamman, confirmed the release of the members.
