Book on slain Channels TV corps member for launch in Abuja

A book on the National Youth Service Corps member with Channels TV, Precious Owolabi, who was killed in a clash between the Police and Shiíte Islamic sect, is ready for launch in Abuja.

Owolabi was killed on Monday, July 22, 2019, in a Police and Shiíte clash that also claimed the life of a Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations in the FCT Command, DCP Usman Umar.

Speaking on the book launch, father of the deceased, Mr. Ayooluwa Owolabi, said the book were works of his late son before his demise on that fateful morning in Abuja.

“Precious had written some plays that were actually ready for publication before he was unfortunately killed while on the legitimate performance of his duties,” Mr. Owolabi said.

“One of the plays, ‘3 Minutes to Midnight’ was set for stage presentation at the end of his service year which was just three months away. So this book presentation is to honour him and bring his aspiration to life.

“For my family and I, the book presentation will help, we believe, preserve his dreams, aspirations, memory and legacy. It is also to inspire other young people who are serving their country to know that their sacrifices are not in vain,” he said.

According to the schedule of the book launch, it is expected to hold on September 16 at the National Press Center, Radio House, Abuja.

President Muhammadu Buhari is billed as the special guest of honour with Vice President Yemi Osinbajo (SAN), as the guest of honour.
