Borno APC chair pledges free, fair congress

Borno state chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) chairman, Senator Kaka Malam Taketh, has assured the national electoral committee and members of the APC that his council would ensure free and fair ward congresses despite the challenges on ground.
He also advised the members and supporters of the party to conduct themselves reasonably and uphold the culture of discipline, tolerance and orderliness during the congress in order to build a virile and united party in the state.

The chairman, who stated this on Sunday at an APC stakeholders’ meeting in Maiduguri, assured the national electoral delegates of full cooperation and support of the members of the party.
Chairman of the APC national electoral committee in Borno state, Alhaji Adamu Farouk Aliyu, said the elections could have been held on Saturday, as earlier scheduled, but due to the late arrival of the printed electoral materials on Friday in Abuja the committee brought them into Maiduguri on Saturday.
The committee members included the Adamu Farouk Aliyu as chairman, Abdullahi Hamza Yusuf as secretary and Abdulhamidu Suleiman, as well as Mohammed Abba amongst others.

Aliyu emphasised also that the party allows or prepares concessions for the election of the ward leaders and where there is no concession election will be held on Tuesday (tomorrow) after compiling the list of concessions candidates.
He said nomination forms for ward chairmen cost N10, 000 and other ward leaders N2000. Forms LG chairmen go for N25, 000, while other leaders attract N10, 000. He added that forms for the state chairman attract N100, 000 and others N50, 000.
He urged orderliness in the conduct of the congress and pledged to declare the winners of the election, while advising that all the four parties are members of APC, APGA, CPC, ANPP and ACN.
