Borno state government has commenced the payment of N200 million backlog of scholarship to 14,000 students studying in various institutions of higher learning in the country.
The state’s Ministry of Higher Education has also set up two screening and verification panels to ascertain the number and credibility of the students, before the disbursement of the scholarship to the students slated for January 14, 2019.
Borno state Commissioner of Higher Education, Dr. Abubakar Hassan, who disclosed this at a press conference in Maiduguri on Friday, said that the N200 million backlog of the students scholarship was released by Governor Kashim Shettima at the recently held State Executive Council (SEC).
The commissioner advised parents to partner with the state government in the development of their children and education sector for the future generation.
He said that with the completion of 23 mega schools across the state, more students will be admitted into institutions of higher learning this year.
