Borno gov swears in SSG, COS, others, preaches zero tolerance for corruption

Goverbor Banagana Umara Zulum of Borno State has tasked the newly sworn in Secretary to the State Government (SSG) and Chief of Staff (COS) to the Govenror as well as other appointees to shun corruption, live above board, live by example, avoid lateness and absentieesm in the civil service as his government will not condone such acts.

He also pledged to strengthen the office of COS with adequate staff to make it function effectively.

The governor  who  stated this Tuesday during the swearing ceremony of the SSG, COS and SAs appealed to all and sundry to cooperate and understand with the new appointees while urging the appointees to do their best to improve corporate image and prestige of the civil service and capacity of the state government.

He further stated that he expected better service delivery from them towards inculcating deep and comprehensive understanding of the activities of government.

Zulum also explained that all the appointments were done based on individual merits and past performance while assuring that his government would continue to improve the civil service.

He also directed that henceforth all publications, press releases and engagements must be passed through the office of the SSG for vetting and approval as required by the law and civil service rules.

Justice Banagana Karomi administered the oath of allegiance and oath of office respectively while Govenror Umara Zulum presided the swearing ceremony held at the Government House Council Chamber Maiduguri, Borno state capital.

Responding, the SSG, Alhaji Usman Jiddah Shuwa, extended  profound  gratitude and appreciation for giving them the privilege to serve the state, while pledging to work effectively and ensure complete attainment of his administration 10-point agenda.
