Borno LGC polls: IPAC wants declaration of legitimate winners

The Inter Party Advisory Council of Nigeria (IPAC), northern chapter, has called on the Borno State Independent Electoral Commission (BOSIEC), to toe to the path of justice, fairnees and honuor, to declare legitimate winners of the concluded local government councils elections into the seats of councilours and chairmen.

This was contained in a statement, issued by the IPAC northern chapter, Chairman Hon. Abukakar Dogara, saying intelligent reports reaching his office from some wards and local governments of the state indicated that some candidates of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), have won either councilourship or chairmanship seats, but that an alleged attempt to subvert people’s will was on the pipeline.

Hon. Dogara who is also the National Secretary of all the 37 States/Abuja Chairmen Forum of SDP, said, “There is the need to call on the conscience of the BOSIEC Chairman and all his commissioners, to toe to the path of truth, sincerity and dignity of his Excellency Governor Babagana Umara Zulum, on doing that which is right.

“Intelligent reports have reached us that elections was peacefully, conducted and in some electoral wards councilourship candidates of the Social Democratic Party, have won with majority of lawful of votes ahead of other contesters, the situation was similar that some of our Council Chairmen candidates are lawful leading in some of the Local Government Areas.”

According to Dogara, any attempt at subverting the real will of the electorates, by the electoral umpire is like throwing the good name and reputation that has earned Governor Zulum, so much respect, trust and confidence not amongst the people of Borno State, but the world over, into the trash.

“It is our firm beliefs that BOSIEC will not want Zulum’s name being dragged into the mud, over an avoidable subvertion of the people’s will.

“And that can be avoided be simply toeing to the path of honour, by declaring legitimate winners of the election not necessarily won by only APC candidates as the case might be in Borno State,” he said.
