Borno, Plan International train 1,370 youth on skill acquisition

Borno State Agency for Mass Literacy in collaboration with Plan International under the EU consortium has engaged 1,370 youth and adolescent boys and girls in skills acquisitions from four local government areas of the state, namely; MMC, Magumeri, Jere, and Konduga in eight different skills and vocational training areas.

The Executive Secretary, Borno State Agency for Mass Literacy, Amb Mustaokha Ali said Wednesday that the skills training and number of youth being trained include tailoring, 455; cap-making, 193 beneficiaries; barbing saloon, 148; soap making 139; food processing, 125; groundnut oil processing, 106; shoe making, 104; and baking, 100 beneficiaries.

According to him, the collaborator, Plan International provided the training materials for the various skills while the partner, Borno State Agency For Mass Literacy provided manpower and certificates.

He added that Plan International also provided startup kits to all the beneficiaries while EU as the donor organisation renovated and equipped a block of 3 classrooms and office accommodation at the agency.
