Dilian Whyte finally secured his place as WBC mandatory challenger – but still fears he will not get his shot at the belt for another 1,200 days.
The Brixton banger edged out Oscar Rivas to win the WBC interim title, becoming mandatory in the process, despite sitting as the organisation’s No1 ranked fighter for over 600 days.
On the same night Filipino legend Manny Pacquiao beat Keith Thurman for the WBA welterweight title and proved he is still an elite operator – even at 40-years-old.

WHYTE FEARS
WHYTE fears he may have to wait a total of 1,200 DAYS before he gets a crack at the world heavyweight title.
The WBC have promised the Brit a title shot by May 2020, but Deontay Wilder is set for his rematch with Tyson Fury in February, after facing Luis Ortiz at the end of this year.
And Whyte, 31, said: “I’m the mandatory challenger now but I’ve already been the No 1 contender for over 600 days.
“Maybe being mandatory means I have to wait another 600 days?
“Who knows what will happen, we’ll see. I will fight again in November or December and then we’ll see what happens.”
NO KHAN DO
PACQUIAO has ruled out the prospect of facing Khan in Saudi Arabia this November after overcoming Thurman in Las Vegas.
Brit star Khan claimed this week he and Pacquiao’s team had reached an agreement for a Middle East showdown in November – a claim denied by the Filipino legend.
And after he was quizzed on when he will be back in the ring following his successful defence of the WBA welterweight title, he said: “I think my next fight will probably be next year.
“After this fight I am going back to the Philippines to start work again in the Senate.”
RUIZ WANTS WILDER
UNIFIED HEAVYWEIGHT champion Ruiz announced plans to dust off Anthony Joshua in a rematch and then unify the heavyweight division against PBC stablemate Wilder.
Speaking on Fox Sports, sitting next to WBC king Wilder, Ruiz, 29, revealed he is trying his best to regain home advantage – so he can conquer Joshua again and “move onto” The Bronze Bomber.
Ruiz said: “We still in negotiations they (are) trying to make us go over there.
“We are trying to get it back here in New York. I’d be more comfortable here.
“Me and him (Wilder) we’re in the same team, I just got to beat Anthony Joshua and then we’ll move onto the next.”
ALLEN HINTS AT RETIREMENT
DAVE ALLEN hinted his boxing career could be up after he was rushed to hospital for a brain scan following a dominant loss to David Price.
The Doncaster brawler was outclassed on Saturday night at the O2 Arena falling victim to a potent jab and right uppercut throughout.
The 27-year-old was taken to the Royal London Hospital as a precaution, and had a brain scan.
One day after the loss Allen tweeted his career is “probably done” after the brutal stoppage, but later revealed he will sit down with his team and access his next step.
He tweeted: “Dont want anyone to worry about me, just a hard man gone old and soft the last 18 months, very happy and proud of David price, I will be okay but the last 12 months or so my health has been deteriorating and I’m glad I hung on took the chance and made money and now probably done.
CHISORA WANTS PARKER
DERECK CHISROA called for a fight against former world champion Joseph Parker after knocking out his pal Artur Szpilka.
The Finchley heavyweight stopped the Pole in two rounds at the O2 Arena, and then called for a fight against the ex-WBO titlist.
Chisora said: “Age is nothing but a number. I am 35 but feel 16. I still want big fights. I will fight until the break of dawn.
“And, as long as the British people keep supporting me like this, I will keep on fighting. I fight for myself and my family and I really cannot get enough of it. Next we want Joseph Parker.”
