Boy, 13, remanded for ‘defiling’ minor

Lagos

An Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court yesterday remanded a 13-year-old secondary school student in a correctional centre for allegedly defiling his neighbour’s daughter.
Chief Magistrate Taiwo Akanni, who gave the order, said the teenager should be kept at Borstal Correctional Centre, Adigbe, Abeokuta in Ogun.
She, however, did not take the plea of the juvenile.
The accused, who lives with his parents in Lagos, was arraigned on charges bordering on defilement.
The Prosecutor, Inspector Clifford Ogu, told the court that the offence was committed at the residence of the accused’s parents on February 23, 2018.
He said the teenager defiled his neighbour’s five-year-old daughter while her mother was not at home and had entrusted her in the care of the mother of the accused.
Ogu said that when the victim’s mother returned home her daughter complained of pains in her private parts and when asked what happened she said the teenager put his ‘wewe’ (penis) in her private part.
The magistrate adjourned the case till April 16.
