Brazil 2014: Eagles to get $15,000 in 2nd round

Ahead of this year’s FIFA World Cup Finals which begin in June 12 in Brazil, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has announced that the Super Eagles would be rewarded with $15,000 each should they get to the second round of the Mundial.
Making this known in an interactive session with a cross section of journalists yesterday at the NFF Headquarters, Abuja, chairman of NFF media and publicity committee, Chief Emeka Inyama, said the measure was aimed at encouraging the team as the federation would do all within its limit to ensure that the country do well at the World Cup.

The Eagles will earn a princely $10,000 win bonus each for the group games against Bosnia Hervegonia, Iran and Argentina.
Ahead of the World Cup preparations, the NFF had pegged official winning bonus for Super Eagles at $5, 000 but Chief Inyam explained that cash bonus earmarked for big tournaments such as World Cup could be increased to give players enough motivation to do well.
He further disclosed: “We are not competing with any country based on what they intend to pay their players as winning bonuses because our economies are not the same. Recently, some amounts of money were approved for the World Cup and are still being processed.

On several friendlies lined up for the reigning African champions, Inyama confirmed that to give the “team adequate preparation, we have arranged test game with Scotland on May 28, before they fly to America for final training where they will take on Greece on June 3 in Philadelphia.
“On June 7, they will confront USA in the last friendly match in Miami before travelling to Sao Paolo for the World Cup.”
