Brazil 2019: Golden Eaglets will still shine in future – Erico

Former Super Eagles Assistant Coach, Joe Erico has asked Nigeria to exercise patience over the form displayed by the Golden Eaglets as he reckons the kids that failed to shine at this year’s FIFA U-17 World Cup in Brazil can still grow into future stars.

The former NEPA of Lagos FC tactician  opted to look on the bright side of life, as Eaglets’ coach, Manu Garba handed starts to Akinkunmi Amoo, Ibrahim Sa’id and Peter Olawale, while Daniel Jinadu returned in goal but it was the Dutch that looked better placed in the opening exchanges.

However, while Erico admitted that the Eaglets fell short of expectations during all their matches in The Samba Nation, he took consolation in observing that the squad is loaded with several very young players, who he believes will make the country proud in years to come.

He stated further during a chat with journalists that the defensive lapses, poor passes in midfield and lack of bite in attack noticed from the Eaglets during all their matches in Brazil was due to the fact that the players are all still very young, which he pointed out gives hope for future heroics from them with Nigerian national teams.
