No fewer than 10 persons were feared dead on Sunday morning in Ibadan when a fully loaded gas tanker lost control at Bode market Molete area of Ibadan in Oyo state.
According to eye witnesses’ accounts, the gas tanker said to be coming from Ojaba end of Mapo area of Ibadan lost control from Idi Arere and swerved into Bode market where it ran on about 10 persons as well as some vehicles.
The eye witnesses stressed that most of the people crushed by the tanker were traders at the Bode market and its adjourning areas, saying, ” the tankers overrun some traders. About 10 people died instantly while scores were injured.”
As at present, security operatives as well as men of the Oyo State Fire Service are at the scene of the accident keeping watch on the tanker over fears of possible explosion
