Breaking: 3 reported dead, ABU students, many others abducted as kidnappers resume onslaught along Kaduna-Abuja highway

Blueprint understands that kidnapper along Kaduna-Abuja highway have retuned.

Reports say about seven persons, including three final year law students of the Ahmadu Bello University Zaria, one male and two female as well as four other, were kidnapped along the dreaded highway on Monday in what is again another spike in the activities of kidnappers after few day lulls. 

Unconfirmed report claimed that three persons were and dozens of others kidnapped.

A commercial driver plying the road, who narrowly escaped, Jibrin Adamu, said that the gunmen blocked the road around Olam Factory at 5.30pm.

“They killed three persons and kidnapped dozens of others. The gunmen blocked the expressway and opened fire on vehicles. They kidnapped dozens of people during the operations and took them into the bush.

“I saw three dead bodies on the road and six vehicles parked by the roadside with all their doors open. The gunmen left 30 minutes after operation as a team of soldiers chased them away.

“I was among the drivers that narrowly escaped the attack while driving with my passengers from Abuja at Kaduna,” Mr Adamu said.

Both the ABU and Police authorities are yet to comment on the incidence at the time of filing this report but a senior security source in Kaduna confirmed to Vanguard that the incidence happened in the afternoon on Tuesday.
