Breaking: After losing Ondo election, robbers invade ZLP national headquarters

Two days after losing to the incumbent governor and candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), the national headquarters of the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) has been invaded by suspected robbers carting away Laptops, Televisions and some other sensitive materials.


The suspected robbery believed to have taken place late Friday evening also saw the wilful breaking into all the security doors, file furnitures, spilling all the contents, damaging of party souvenirs among others. 


ZLP is one of the top opposition political parties in just concluded governorship election in Ondo state where its candidate Agboola Ajayi came third.


Official if the party told our correspondent that the Nigerian Police Force have however, visited the scene of robbery and has since commence investigation but no arrest has been made.

Though it was not clear the motive behind the intrusion but the national secretary of the ZLP, Yahaya Makama told newsmen that the incident could be more than a mere robbery. 

According to him, “When the office closed on Friday we went to monitor the Ondo Governorship election as we have a candidate who we were hopeful of making serious impact. But on Saturday morning we noticed that one of our security doors has been broken into thus making access into all our offices.

“Party and other sensitive materials were carted away after virtually all the security doors were forced open. Though laptops and files were removed but IPad lying on one of the tables were untouched. This is may not just be a mere robbery but we believe that the Nigerian police will unearth the reason behind the invasion.”
