Breaking: APC summons Lai Mohammed over parallel secretariat in Kwara

The national leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has summoned the Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, to face the National Caretaker Committee over a parallel state secretariat the minister recently opened in Kwara state.

While governor AbdulRahman Abdulrazaq’s faction of Kwara APC has its party secretariat located at the Tanke area, the minister’s faction recently unveiled its secretariat at GRA, Ilorin.

Our correspondent gathered last night that two letters emanated from the national secretariat to the minister to come and explain why a disciplinary measures should not be taken against him for the action.

A dependable source confided in our correspondent that the party might institute serious disciplinary action against the minister if he refuse to close down the new office.

“I’m in the know that Lai Mohammed has been summoned. The Caretaker Committee sent him two letters asking him to explain the rationale behind a factional party secretariat he opened in Kwara,” the source said

But when contacted, the party’s National Secretary John James Akpanudoedehe, said he could not deny or confirm the invitation to Lai Muhammed but added that APC leadership will not tolerate anyone who try to fictionalised the party at any level.

“I can’t confirm or deny what you are asking me because the Minister is an elder and we shall accord him the much respect and the party will not allow anything to put him to disrepute. The party in another hand will no allow anybody to violate the constitution of the party,” the Secretary said.
