Breaking: Apprehension as 31-year-old businessman imports Covid-19 in Ebonyi

Ebonyi state government, sunday night, said it has recorded  it’s first COVID-19 index case.

This was revealed by Governor David Umahi in a live broadcast at the government lodge Abakaliki, the state capital.

According to him, the carrier is a 31-year-old businessman from Ukawu, Onicha local government area of Ebonyi state who supplies food item with his hired purchase Sienna bus.

He said, “The index case is a 31-year-old man from Ukawu in Onicha local government areas of the state, who runs a business with his higher purchased Sienna vehicle and carries food items to Ore in Ondo state.

“He uses the vehicle to carry passengers back to the Southeast after selling his food items. He has made two turns this year, one on 29th of March and returned to Ebonyi on 1st of April 2020. And the second turn was on April 12.

While Umahi explained  that the patient returned from one of his business trips to Ore on April 24, alongside three Ebonyi citizens, he said the three passengers with him tested negative.
