Breaking: At last, ASUU ‘reach truce with FG, set to call off strike’

There appears to be respite at last for Nigerian students the federal government and the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) resolved their differences.

To this end, ASUU are rallying to call off months of strike, being the longest standoff between Nigerian lecturers and the government.

The decision was at the instance of a meeting with the government team led by Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige, in Abuja, on Friday.

Briefing journalists after the eight-hour meeting, the Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr Chris Ngige, said the dialogue was fruitful.

ASUU’s president, Prof. Biodun Ogunyemi also spoke in similar fashion as the Minister.

Ngige said the government has made a proposal which ASUU will take back to their executives.
