Breaking: Bala suspends LGA chairman for absconding from duty

Bauchi state governor Bala Mohammed Thursday suspended the caretaker chairman of Ningi local government area of the state Honourable Nura Dan Maisharia’.


In a letter of suspension sent to the local government chairman by the Secretary to the State Government Alhaji Sabiu Baba, the governor said Dan Maisharia has been absconding from the meetings of local governments chairmen being convened by the ministry for local government affairs.


The government noted that such meetings serve as a forum of discussing vital issues regarding local government administration and decisions are taken.


” In addition, it was noted that you have not been engaging the local government stakeholders in managing the local government affairs.


” This act violates the principles of representative government like ours. Similarly, the local government is witnessing indiscriminate felling of trees under your watch, which is inimical to the avowed commitment of the present administration in combating deforestation and environmental issues”. The letter reads.


The government also accused the chairman of deliberately refusing to recognize the recently appointed local government secretary whose nomination the government claimed was in the best interest of the entire local government.


” In the light of the foregoing, I write to convey approval of His Excellency Sen. Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, CON for your suspension as Chairman, caretaker committe Ningi local government with immediate effect. This is to facilitate proper investigation into the allegations so that government would take final decision on the matter appropriately.


” You are to handover the mantle of administration of the local government to the deputy chairman along with all government property in your possession please”. The government said.
