Breaking: Bauchi govt rescinds decision on curfew, closes only borders


Bauchi state government has rescinded the decision to impose lockdown through out the state effective from Thursday over the outbreak of corona virus.


State deputy governor who is also the chairman of the response committee on the pandemic disclosed this Thursday while addressing Journalists at goverment house Bauchi.


He said the new decision was in view of the complaints received by the government on the implications of the curfew coupled with the fact that no palliative have been provided so far by the federal government to assist the poor people during the lockdown in the state.


According to him, the goverment has made consultations with religious leaders and security agencies after which it reviewed the earlier decision and now resolved to close only the borders.


He said the state government has however provided isolation centres in the state and sourced two ventilators for the patients with severe symptoms.
The deputy governor said the two patients currently in isolation would soon be discharged as they did not exhibit any symptoms up till now.
He admonished people in the state to continue to comply with the social distancing policy, avoid overcrowding at weddings, mosques and churches to avert further spread of the pandemic.

Tela also appealed to the traders in the state especially food vendors not to increase prices of their commodities during the trying people in order not to inflict hardship on the citizens.
