Breaking: Chelsea drop points as West Ham triumph, boost Premier League relegation escape

Full Time: West Ham 3-2 Chelsea

David Moyes and West Ham were left fuming with VAR again but were grinning at full time as Andriy Yarmolenko sealed a crucial 3-2 win over Chelsea after a rollercoaster clash

The Ukrainian pounced in the final seconds to claim a crucial three points as the Hammers battle to stay up.

Tomas Soucek was the unfortunate victim of VAR against Tottenham last week as his own goal was awarded despite it being handled en route to him by an opponent.

And the West Ham defender was unlucky again after he thought he had bundled his team into the lead in the London derby.

He met a corner that came through the goalmouth and turned it in through the body of Michail Antonio.

But his celebration was quickly cut short as the referee turned to VAR to check whether the prone Antonio was offside by obstructing goalkeeper Kepa’s vision.

After an agonising five minute wait it was the news no Hammers supporter wanted to hear – NO GOAL.

Moyes, who was furious after the Spurs defeat with VAR’s decision, looked raging again and his frown turned into an angry glare seconds after play was restarted.

Issa Diop fouled Christian Pulisic inside the opposite box and Willian kept his cool from the spot to fire Chelsea ahead.

Moyes was pacing up and down his technical area as his anger threatened to boil over, but perhaps justice was done seconds before the break.

And it was that man Soucek involved at the heart of it once more as he headed down and in to level things up in first-half stoppage time.

However, TV clips showed Moyes did not celebrate the goal, perhaps half-expecting it to be ruled out again by those pesky VAR bods at Stockley Park.

But it got even better just over five minutes into the second half as Antonio also got his revenge by firing in from close-range to put the Hammers 2-1 ahead.

However, the relegation-threatened Hammers were unable to hold on for three crucial points as they suffered another blow courtesy of Willian.

The Brazilian stepped up to curl a stunning free-kick round the wall and in off the post from 25 yards for what appeared to be a share of the spoils.

But Yarmolenko would have the final laugh as he struck following a counter-attack in the dying seconds to secure three crucial points.
