A Policeman (names withheld) has died of coronavirus at the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Abeokuta, Ogun state capital.
With the death of the policeman, the hospital has recorded two deaths of COVID-19 patients within a week.
It would be recalled that a pregnant woman and another male patient were tested positive last Saturday at the facility and the pregnant woman died while awaiting her test result.
The Head, Public Relations and Information of the hospital, Segun Orisajo, who confirmed this to Blueprint on Sunday morning, said, “The Centre has recorded the death of a patient who tested positive for Coronavirus.
“The deceased, a policeman presented himself to the general outpatients department of the hospital about three days ago.
“He later died same day. The result of his test returned this morning positive.
“His body is being prepared for release to his family for burial in strict compliance with World Health Organisations (WHO) guidelines.
“All staff who came in contact with the deceased are currently on self isolation.”
