Breaking: Courts shut as Judiciary workers begin strike

Judiciary workers, under the aegis of the Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN), have kicked off their indefinite strike to press for judicial autonomy.

As early as Tuesday morning, the leadership of JUSUN stormed different courts especially in Lagos and Abuja to implement the strike action.

The national leadership of JUSUN had in a circular dated April 1, ordered the shutdown of various courts across the country as from April 6, 2021.

According to the union, it had at its last National Executive Meeting on March 13, 2021 in Abuja, issued a 21-day ultimatum to the government to implement the financial autonomy of the judiciary

It had threatened to resume its suspended national strike if its demands were not met.
