Breaking: Ebonyi thugs set INEC registration centre ablaze, burn electoral materials on election day

Just few hours to commencement of March 9 elections, one of the Registration Area Centers (RAC) located at Community Secondary Schoo Okposi Umuoghara, where polling unit 07 is cited in Ezza North local government area was set ablaze by suspected thugs allegedly working for All Progressive Congress (APC) in Ebonyi state.

Blueprint Correspondent on ground in the area reports that the thugs invaded the centre at about 2:15 am and attacked the officials.

They were said to have shot sporadically and scared the people away before setting the center ablaze and burning Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) sensitive materials in the center.

When contacted, the Resident Electoral Commission (REC) Ebonyi state, Professor Godswill Obioma, who confirmed the incident, said he got the report but has further notified INEC headquarters.

Also the state Police public Relations officer ASP Loveth Odah confirmed the report and said the Command was looking into the matter.
