Breaking: Ex-NFF Scribe Ogunjobi is dead

Former Secretary General of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Taiwo Joseph Ogunjobi has passed on.

He was aged 65.

Ogunjobi was the Osun Football Association boss before his demise.

The late Soccer Sage also served for immediate past Osun Governor Rauf Aregbesola as Special Assistant.

Ogunjobi passed on at the University College Hospital (UCH) in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, on Monday.

Ogunjobi was a brilliant footballer during his hey days. He also expressed interest in contesting for the number one position for the NFF in 2014.

Ogunjobi had played for the Nigeria Academicals against Ghana at the first Nigeria-Ghana Sports Festival in 1974. Ogunjobi was the hero of the 5-1 defeat of Ghana as he scored three goals.

He later travelled to the United States to further his education. On return, he featured for Shooting Stars which he later captained to the final match of the 1984 African Cup of Champions Clubs, losing both legs to Egypt’s Zamalek.

He also became the General Manager of the club, leading it to victory at the inaugural CAF Cup in 1992.

Coincidentally, his birthday coincided with the August 21 anniversary, which the NFF as a body is yet to come to terms with.
