Breaking – FA election: Yusuf Fresh, other board members re-elected in Niger

Outspoken board of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Comrade Ahmed Yusuf Fresh, has been re-elected as Chairman of Niger State Football Association (NSFA), alongside other members of the board.

All the board members were returned unopposed by the Congress members comprising of all the 25 local football councils in the state, representatives of female football league, Nation-wide league one, Players Union, football coaches association and other stakeholders.

Fresh is now occupying the Chairman’s office of the NSFA for the fifth time consecutively.

In his acceptance speech, Comrade Fresh said his re-election and that of his board members was a sign that the football family in Niger state were pleased with their leadership, promising that he would not disappoint them.

He said Niger state was known for grassroot football development and that he would consolidate on the feat so far achieved in the state.

Sardaunan Kwallon Kafa as Fresh is fondly called said as the leader of the football family in the North Central, he would from Monday go round the zone to supervise elections in states of the zone where he hope to preach peace and and unity, as well as love of the game to stakeholders.

Earlier in his goodwill message, the representative of Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Mr Barnabas Joro said the election has the full blessing of the NFF and it is legitimate.

He observed that the grassroot football development programme of NSFA which cut across nooks and crannies of the state had produced a lot of young talents, praying that one day the state should produce the first eleven players of the National team.

Earlier before the conduct of the election, the Chairman of the Electoral Committee who is a Sharia Court Judge, Abdullahi Nasiru Danlami explained the electoral processes and guidelines to the Congress members.

Nasiru Danlami returned all members of the elected NSFA executive after announcing the votes each of them got and administered the oath of office and that of allegiance to them.

Similarly, the Chairman of the appeal committee Barr. Abdulrahman Ahmed Garafini said anyone who wasn’t pleased with the conduct of the election has three days to appeal through the secretariat of the NSFA.

Mallam Tanko Bawa Maiyaki representing Nationwide League One (NLO) moved for the dissolution of the former NSFA executive, while the Chairman of Gbako local football council, Jacob Legbo, seconded the move.

Those reelected to pilot the affairs of the state FA were, Ahmed Yusuf Fresh as Chairman, Yabagi Baba and Alh. Kabiru Baba Master as first and second Vice Chairman. Others are Barau Awaisu Kuta, Sani M. Aminu, Sani A. Salahu, Lawal Mohammed Maradona, Abdulmumin Ala and Kurna Alfa Aliyu, as members.
