Breaking: Finally, Uwajumogu is sworn-in, Senate now complete with 109 members

The remaining one Senatorial seat to be occupied in the Ninth Senate, got filled up Friday morning with the swearing in of Senator Benjamin Uwajumogu (APC Imo  North).

Uwajumogu has since February 23, 2019 when the National Assembly election was conducted, been having running battles with candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP ) and All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) over the actual winner of Imo East senatorial contest .

The battle in April moved to election petition tribunal, which culminated in the order given by High Court in Owerri Tuesday July 23, 2019, the Independent National Electoral Commission ( INEC), that certificate of return should be given to Uwajumogu as the winner of the election.

With Uwajumogu’s swearing in Friday morning, the Ninth Senate which took off with 107 Senators on June 11, 2019 at inauguration, now has the required 109 members, having also in June after inauguration, got Senator Rocha’s Okorocha (APC Imo  West ), added to it.
