Breaking: Foreign Affairs Minister quits

Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Mrs Khadija Bukar Abba Ibrahim has resigned to contest for House of Representatives seat for the in Yobe state for the Damaturu/Gujba/Gulani/Tarmuwa constituency. 

She confirmed to State House correspondents that Wednesday’s Federal Executive Council (FEC) would be her last. 

Her resignation comes a month after the former Minister of State for Environment, Ibrahim Jubril, resigned following his declaration as the 13th Emir of Nasarawa on December 7, 2018, following his selection by the Nasarawa Emirate Council and subsequent approval by Governor Tanko Umaru Almakura.

Khadija defeated her son-in law, Mohammed Bukar Abba Ibrahim, at the primary election to emerge All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate. 

She was nominated as minister in 2015 by President Muhammadu Buhari and had to vacate her seat in the House Representatives to take the ministerial appointment.
