Roma are facing a race against time to re-sign Chris Smalling as they are close to agree a deal late on with Manchester United, according to Sky in Italy.
The Italian transfer window closes at 7pm and the Serie A club’s chiefs are confident to complete the deal with the last details yet to be ironed out.
It initially looked like Roma would be priced out of a move for the defender.
