Breaking: Respite as Gombe discharges 20 Covid-19 patients

Gombe state Commissioner of Health, Dr Ahmad Muhammad Gana, on Friday announced the discharge of 20 Covid-19 patients from various isolation centres.

Dr. Ahmad Gana made the announcement during daily press briefing on Covid-19 situation at Government house in Gombe.

The Commissioner said they were discharged after they fully recovered, and tested negative in two consecutive times.

Dr. also appealed to Journalists to support the Taskforce on Covid-19 through their reportage on the coronavirus pandemic.

While assuring that the task-force will always adhere to protocols regarding cases under isolation, the commissioner called for more collaboration and cooperation to win the fight against COVID-19 in the state.

Dr. Gana said about 1, 047 suspected cases from Gombe have been tested out of which 103 confirmed cases were recorded and that the state is expecting pending results for  26 suspected cases.

He disclosed that the state has been tracing 715 contacts, of which 630 have been reached.

Also speaking, the state commissioner of Education, Dr. Habu Dahiru, who is also a member of the task-force urged residents and family members to welcome the victims discharged without stigma or humiliation.

“They have been isolated and test negative before being discharged.

“We expect them to educate their families and community members that COVID is reall and the way they were isolated and turned negative is the best way to contain the situation,” the commissioner added.
