Breaking: Gunmen attack, road crash kill 2 security guards, 3 passengers in Ondo

Two security men attached to a popular filling station in Akure Ondo state capital city were shot dead by unknown armed robbers in the early hours of Sunday.

Details on the incident are still sketchy as residents of the town have stormed the scene to know what happened.

Also, three passengers have reportedly died in a lone auto crash along Ondo/Ore road in Ondo state.

The accident occured in the early hours of Sunday around 7am, while three others who sustained injuries in the crash have been rushed to a nearby hospital.

Eyewitnesses account told Blueprint that the vehicle was travelling en-route Akure when the unfortunate incident occured. 

It was however gathered that the vehicle was on high speed and lost control before it summersaulted.

Confirming the two incidents, the police public relations officer in the state DSP Tee-Leo Ikoro said the armed robbers attacked the filling station, killed two guards on duty and carted away some funds.

He said the corpses have been deposited at the morgue, while investigation were going over the incident.

He however called on the public to give useful information that will lead to arrest of the perpetrators.

He also charged motorists to minimise their speed on the road.
