Armed robbers Tuesday afternoon invaded a commercial bank at Onueke, Ezza South local government area of Ebonyi state and carted away an undisclosed amount of money.

A source who spoke to Blueprint said the robbers entered the popular Onueke park after their operation at the bank where they interfaced with security men.

“I was in an event when one of my staff called me and said she could not come out that they are robbing in the bank close to our office.

“When I left the programme, I was in and went to the park, the armed rubbers came there and policemen also arrived at the park as if they had information of what was happening.

“They engaged into gun-battle with them and later left.

“As I’m talking to you the police did not arrest anybody as the town is now deserted over the incident.

“It was after the police left that I came out from my hiding place and left the park,” the eyewitness who choose to remain anonymous said.

When contacted, the state Police spokesperson, DSP Loveth Odah, declined knowledge of the attack and said the command was yet to get the information.
