Breaking: IGP moves Rivers CP to Force headquarters, redeploys 2 others

The Inspector General of Police, IGP Mohammed Adamu, has ordered the posting and redeployment of three Commissioners of Police (CP) to command, formation, and department.

Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO), DCP Frank Mba, disclosed this in a press statement, Friday in Abuja.

He said affected officers were: “CP Dandaura Mustapha who was re-deployed as CP Provost FHQ, Abuja; and CP Joseph Gobum Mukan, who was re-deployed as CP Rivers Command; as well as CP Musa Adze who was deployed as CP Anti-Fraud Unit.”

Some Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) have been advocating for the redeployment of the erstwhile Rivers CP, Dandaura, over the alleged torture and death of a mechanic, Ikwunado Chima, in a police cell after he was arrested alongside four of his friends.

Mba said the IGP charged the affected CPs to diligently and professionally discharge their duties in their new areas of responsibilities.

The spokesperson also said the posting and the redeployment of the senior police officers was with immediate effect.
