Breaking: Kidnappers invade Zaria, abduct Lecturer, 2 children, 1 shot in Nuhu Bamali poly

Kidnappers Saturday night invaded the official staff quarters of Nuhu Bamalli Polytechnic, Zaria, Kaduna state, where they kidnapped three persons and shot one.

Confirming the incident, the Rector of the school, Engineer Kabir Abdullahi, said the bandits gained entrance into the school around 9pm on Saturday.

“I was in kaduna when the Chief Security Officer of the college called me and informed me about the attack.

“It is true that suspected armed bandits have kidnapped one of my staff, Engineer Bello Atiku who is the Head of Department, Computer Engineering of the school.

“He was also kidnapped along with two children to an unknown destination.”

Engineer Abdullahi also confirmed that one of the staff, Sunusi Hassan, was shot in the hand who narrowly escaped being kidnapped by the bandits and has been rushed to hospital for medical attention.

He attributed the incident to the porous nature of the school which espose the polytechnic community to unforeseen danger.

The Rector said despite vast land and abundant forest, the Polytechnic was still unfenced, a situation that mitigate risk to occupants.

He however appealed to the college community to remain calm as security operatives are on top of the situation.

The incident is coming on the heel of students’ resumption to the school after a long break necessitated by the Covid-19 pandemic.

Also confirming the incident, the state Police spokesman, ASP Muhammed Jalige, said the Police were on top of the situation.
