Breaking: Lalong leads as INEC declares Plateau governorship contest inconclusive

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has just declared governorship contest in Plateau contest inconclusive.

The returning officer of state gubernatorial election, Professor Richard Anande, who made the declaration in Jos, Plateau state capital said the number of votes declared cancelled in some areas within the state exceeded the margin between the two leading candidates.

Professor Anande, said a total number of 49,347 were cancelled, and that the margin between the leading candidate, Governor Simon Lalong of All Progressives Congress (APC) and Peoples Democratic Congress (PDP) Jeremiah Useni, were 44,929.

Incumbent Governor Lalong was leading with 583,255, while Senator Useni was having 548,336.

However, Prof. Anande, declared that supplementary elections would be held within the next 21 days.
