Breaking: Lawan backs open ballot system for emergence of 9th NASS leaders

Senate Presidency aspirant and the current Senate Leader, Ahmed Lawan has officially expressed support for the open ballot system to elect the next set of National Assembly leaders.

There have been agitations and protests in the last few weeks that emergence of the 9th National Assembly leaders should be open ballot system.

Although the current rule book for the two chambers still allow for secret balloting.

But speaking on the matter for the first time, Wednesday when he led about 15 other senators to the corporate headquarters of the Blueprint Newspaper in Abuja, the APC preferred candidate for the office of the Senate President said he would prefer open balloting “so that people will know where all the lawmakers stand.”

Senator Lawan recalled that he voted for the former Senate President David Mark openly and Nigerians can still remember where he stood at that time.
