BREAKING NEWS: EFCC arraigns Atiku’s Lawyer, Babalele over alleged money laundering

Abdullahi Babalele, son in-law to former Vice President and Presidential Candidate of the People’s Democratic Party, in the 2019 general elections, Atiku Abubakar has just been arraigned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

Mr Babalele was arraigned on Wednesday morning before Justice Nicholas Oweibo at a Federal High Court in Lagos, on a two-count charge of alleged money laundering.

Following a request made by his counsel, Mike Ozekhome(SAN), Justice Oweibo has ordered that Babalele be remanded in EFCC custody pending the hearing of his bail application on Thursday.

Also, Uyiekpen Osagie-Giwa, said to be Atiku’s lawyer, was separately arraigned for allegedly laundering $2m, in connection with the 2019 general polls.

Both Babalele and Osagie-Giwa were arraigned before the Federal High Court in Lagos.

They pleaded not guilty to the charges.
