Breaking – #Nigeria Decides: INEC extends voting time

After receiving truck of complains ranging from late arrival of electoral materials to malfunctioning of card readers as well as missing names on voting lists, across the country, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has extended voting period.

The commission expressed the confidence that most of these cases of delay would be rectified.

INEC National Commissioner and chairman, Information and Voter Education Committee, Festus Okoye, stated these on Saturday while giving an update on the ongoing elections.

He said: “Every place where we experience challenges would be granted extension, by the number of hours lost. If a polling unit is supposed to be activated at 8am and starts by 12 Noon, four hours will be added. We were also told that due to security challenges, we are on top of the situation.

“Any place there are security challenges and we can’t deploy materials and personnel, the commission will take an action on those areas.”
