Breaking: Obi, Labour party to challenge election in 18 states

Labour Party (LP), and its presidential candidate, Peter Obi, have expressed their intention to challenge the outcome of the previous presidential election in 18 states, as they appeared before the Presidential Election Petition Court (PEPC) on Thursday.

Their legal counsel, Emeka Okpoko (SAN), revealed this during the proceedings, stating that they plan to present election materials from 18 specific states.

However, Okpoko was only able to present result sheets from six states before requesting an adjournment.

The respondents in the case, namely the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), President Bola Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettma, and the All Progressives Congress (APC), raised objections to the admissibility of the documents and stated that they will provide their reasons in their final written addresses.

The next hearing for the petition was rescheduled for 9 am on Friday May 2, 2023.
