Breaking: Panic as Kano govt shuts down school over security report

Kano state government has directed immediate closure of Bagauda Technical College over security threats.

The state commissioner of education Sanusi Sa’id Kiru disclosed this in a press release he issued to Blueprint early Tuesday morning.
According to him, the decision to close the school became imperative following a disturbing security report and the need to  protect the lives of the students, teachers and staff of the college.

He therefore urged parents to immediately evacuate their children from the college and wait for further directives from the government.

“The closure of the college was necessitated following a disturbing security report and the need to  protect the lives of the students, teachers and other staff of the college.

“We express  appreciation of the state government to parents/ guardians for their unflinching support and cooperation on  government’s policies and directives especially on security related matters,” he said.

In recent time, hundreds of students especially those in boarding schools in the north were abducted by Boko Haram militants and bandits.

In December, 2020, about 300 students were reportedly kidnapped in Kankara, Katsina state just as hundreds of others were also abducted by gunmen in Jangebe, Zamfara and Kagara in Niger states.
