Breaking: Passengers stranded, groan as Arik Air workers ground operations at airport (Pictures)

Passengers are currently stranded at the Murtala Mohammed airport Lagos following strike embarked upon by the staff of Arik Air over what they described as “poor condition of work”.

One of the passengers who revealed this via his twitter handle wrote, “Arik Air workers are currently on industrial action this morning, making passengers to be stranded and causing serious hardship on passengers.”

The worker reportedly said the non-payment started after the company placed 90 per cent of the workforce on compulsory leave and other “anti-labour practices”.

The unions included the National Union of Air Transport Employees and Air Transport Senior Staff Services Association of Nigeria.

Blueprint also gathered that similar protest are taking place in Portharcourt, Rivers state capital.
