Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, has given assurance that the house will pass the Petroleum Industry Bill (PIB), the Electoral Act amendment, as well as the Supplementary Budget transmitted by President Muhammadu Buhari in two weeks.
The speaker dropped the hint on Tuesday, at the resumption of regular plenary of the House. He had earlier read a letter from President Buhari, seeking approval of the 2021 Supplementary Appropriation Bill of N895.8 billion.
Gbajabiamila in his remarks urged his colleagues to put all hands on deck to ensure that the critical instruments are passed within the stipulated time, as the House make plans for the year’s summer break.
“I will be meeting with the Ad hoc committee on PIB today by 3pm to tidy up some things. We need to pass these legislations before we go on summer break. Two weeks is a very short time. We must do it all. These are landmark legislations, including the supplementary budget”, the speaker said.
