Breaking: Senate moves meeting with Service Chiefs as Buhari summons another security interface

The Senate has fixed Thursday this week for strategic interface with the Service Chiefs on way out of challenges of insecurity bedeviling the Nation. 

The upper legislative chamber had on the strength of a motion debated last week Tuesday on rising wave of insecurity in the country, resolved to summon the Service Chiefs for explanations on way out.

It also resolved to have a similar  interface with President Muhammadu Buhari on the same subject matter in Aso Rock at  a date to be worked out by its leadership and the Presidency.

Announcing the Thursday meeting with the Service Chiefs during plenary on Tuesday, the President of the Senate, Ahmad Lawan, said the Clerk of the Senate, Ibrahim El – Ladan, had communicated to the security chiefs and Thursday was fixed for it.

He explained that the Service Chiefs were unable to respond promptly to the invitation by appearing today due to an ongoing security meeting at the Presidential villa which is scheduled to end on Wednesday this week. 

He noted that in view of the development, the Service Chiefs would, therefore, appear before the chamber on Thursday, May 6, 2021.
