The 11th Shehu of Bama and 1st Emir of Yazaram, High Royal Highness Alhaji kyari Ibn Umar Ibn Ibrahim Al Amin El kanemi is dead.
He died on Monday after brief illness.
The cause of the death is still unknown as an official statement from the the family or University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital (UMTH) and Borno state Ministry of Emirate Affairs is being awaited as the tradition demands.
Blueprint reports that due to the demise of the Traditional Ruler, a press briefing by the Borno Commissioner of Information Babakura Abba Jato on the update of Covid-19 situation was put off.
Similarly, the burial arrangement of the royal father was still being awaited from the family as at the time of filing this report.
